Basic Site Use
Malcolm Pirnie does not require users to enter personal information to access information contained on this website. Occasionally we will ask you to voluntarily provide basic contact information (name, e-mail address, etc.) to gain access to additional information.
When you provide Malcolm Pirnie with information about yourself, Malcolm Pirnie will act in a responsible manner to protect this data. We will not transfer, exchange, license, sell, lease or otherwise disclose your personal information, except:
- to protect the rights, health, safety or property of Malcolm Pirnie or others;
- to allow for lawful security related investigations or law enforcement investigations; and
- to comply with applicable laws, regulations or other lawful requirements.
Information Collection and UseMalcolm Pirnie collects information from our users at several different points on our website.
Newsletter Subscriptions
In order to subscribe to newsletters, you must first complete the registration form. During registration you are required to give contact information (such as name and email address).
Information Use
Information collected on our website is for the express purpose of delivering requested information to a user. Information collected will not be shared with any third parties, except as noted above. We may occasionally send information on new features, activities and industry issues, but you have the opportunity to "opt-out" of these communications.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies to help us provide better customer service. For the session ID cookie, once users close their browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user’s hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions. By setting a cookie on our site, users would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while visiting our site.
Log Files
Like most website owners, we use log files. These log files collect internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
We employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of web users. The main difference between the two is that clear gifs are invisible on the page and are much smaller, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Clear gifs are not tied to users’ personally identifiable information.
In addition, we use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened.
Communications from the Site
Confirmations
We send emails to verify email addresses, confirm RSVPs, and subscriptions.
General Information
We may occasionally send information on new features, activities, and industry issues, but you have the opportunity to "opt-out" of these communications.
Choice/Opt-out
Our users are given the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for information. For example, our subscription form has an ‘opt-out’ mechanism so users who subscribe to a newsletter from us, but don’t want other electronic communications, can keep their email address off of our lists.
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter or other mailings may opt-out of receiving the communication by replying to the email with "unsubscribe" in the subject line of the email.
Email-A-Friend
If you use our referral service for informing a friend about our publications or job opportunities, we ask for your name and email and your friend’s email address. Malcolm Pirnie will automatically send the friend a one-time email and does not store this information.
Security of Information
We take reasonable precautions to secure your personal information. All personally identifiable information is subject to restricted access to prevent unauthorized access, modification or misuse. As an additional level of security, SSL is used when you submit password information.
Notification of Changes to This Policy
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, and other places we deem appropriate. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
If, however, we are going to materially change the way your personally identifiable information will be used from that stated at the time of collection we would notify you via email. You will have a choice as to whether or not we may use your information in this different manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our website homepage.
Whom to ContactTo correct any inaccuracies in your personal information please contact the Webmaster. We will make a sincere effort to respond in a timely manner.
If you have a question or concern regarding our privacy statement, please contact Jerry Cavaluzzi, General Counsel, Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. (914) 641-2950.
